What are the responsibilities and job description for the CRMA - assisted living/memory care ALL SHIFTS position at Islebrook Village at Wiscasset?
Islebrook Village is Maine's newest senior living community, offering Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care apartments for rent. Scheduled to open in March 2025, we are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Certified Residential Medication Aides (CRMAs) to join our team.
Summary
The primary responsibilities of the CRMA are to administer or assist with the administration and/or supervision medications to residents in a safe, accurate and timely manner in accordance with State regulations, and to provide physical and psychosocial care to residents in a manner that promotes dignity, choice, and individuality. The CRMA reports to the supervisory on duty and to the Director of Resident Care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer, assist with or supervise the administration of medications according to physician orders on the medication administration records (MARs).
- Document medications administered on the MAR in accordance with Company policy and State regulations. Check MARs immediately after administration and prior to end of shift to ensure that documentation is complete and accurate.
- Conduct change of shift report with incoming/outgoing resident care personnel.
- Conduct resident apartment checks and rounds.
- Maintain security of medication carts and keys throughout shift.
- Participate in controlled substance counts at the beginning and end of each shift in accordance with Company policy and State regulations.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, shaving, oral care, nail care, foot care, toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility.
- Document provision of services in accordance with Company policy and State regulations.
- Care for sensory enhancement devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
- Completes or assists residents with housekeeping tasks including bedmaking, linen changes, emptying trash and cleaning bathrooms as needed.
- Assist residents with personal correspondence upon request.
- Utilize safe transfer techniques when assisting residents.
- Escort residents to meals, activities or events as needed.
- Observes and promptly reports any changes in residents’ physical and/or cognitive/emotional status to the supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Resident Care Director.
- Reports any suspected or witnessed instances of verbal, mental or physical abuse and/or neglect to the Resident Care Director and/or Executive Director promptly.
- Work collaboratively with peers and other team members to ensure the safety and satisfaction of all residents.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, particularly when interacting with residents and their families.
- Respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner. Report any such emergencies to the Charge Nurse, Resident Care Director, and/or Executive Director immediately.
- Follow established infection control procedures and safety protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness of resident apartments, reporting any hazards, violations, or sanitation issues to the Director of Maintenance and Housekeeping.
- Communicate with residents, family members and guests in a respectful, diplomatic manner. Collaborate with associates in other departments to ensure that resident needs are being met appropriately.
- Support or participate in resident-centered activity programs, projects, committees, meetings or other events as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of State-required education, certifications, and testing for Certified Residential Medication Aides.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Proficiency with the use of computers and peripherals, including internet-based programs, Microsoft Word and Outlook, copiers, scanners and fax machines.
- Professional and neat appearance and presentation, including adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
- Maine background check is required.
Physical Requirements
To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands/arms, bend, stoop and crouch. The employee must be free from communicable disease and may be asked to complete a physical exam and drug test prior to hiring. He or she must be able to lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
