POSITION SUMMARY
The Records Technician/Lab Assistant contributes to the OSWP continued success by passionately executing the company’s business model; promoting the company culture, mission and values. As the Records Technician you are an essential part of the practice as you are responsible for initiating each patient record that is needed to evaluate the patient and provide optimal treatment plans, as well as lab maintenance, This Job Description identifies the major responsibilities of this position, please be advised it does not include all aspects of this position such as potential duties assigned by supervisors and requirements for flexibility.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
Practice Support
- Consistently performs specific assigned daily and general duties; meets deadlines
- Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly
- Knows and consistently implements the organizational missions and all approved policies, protocols and procedures
- Regularly supports compliance and accreditation effort as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA and HIPPA
- Respects and acknowledges the organization commitment to cultural diversity, which is expressed through behavior, language and actions
- Consistently demonstrates good use of time and resources
- Consistently interacts with the patients and staff in manner that reflects favorably on the organization and promotes teamwork

Clinical Support
- The Records Technician is responsible for providing a positive orthodontic dental experience, greets and comfort patients, attended to the treating doctor, completes clinical orthodontic records and ensure that all records are uploaded to the patient chart
- Records include the following procedures
- MCO – State Patients requires X-Rays, Pan, Ceph, all Intra-Oral Photos iTero Scan & HLD Evaluation Form scored by the doctor
- FFS – Pan Only and Facial Pictures
- REC START – Full Records X-Rays Pan Ceph, Intra-Oral Photos, iTero Scan and Signed Informed Consent with initial down Payment
- INS Private - requires a Pre-D X-Rays, Pan, Ceph, Photos, ADA Form Signed by Patient.
- Take progress Takes Progress Pictures/Records for submission to insurance for patient continuation of care
- Transfer x-rays from Cedeix to Vistadent and then it's imported to WaveOrtho into patient chart
- Imports Pictures of patients and uploads to the patient chart
- Pours impression for Essix retainers, surgical models as well as impression for Hawleys,
Expanders or any special appliance creates and sends out to the lab
- Inventory of retainers and appliances that arrive from the lab and makes sure they are called and scheduled an appropriate appointment
- Teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene and Instructions for first time patients
- Gives ware and care instructions for patients who finish treatment and just received retainers
- When free from doing records and the Records Technician helps out the assistants by sterilizing and packing instruments
- Closes out day and prepares for next patent day
- Over all maintenance and organization of the Records area
Lab Maintenance
- Pours impressions to make models for Essix Retainers
- Cuts and trims models
- Completes Essix retainers for patients who have taken their braces off
- Stocking of new bonding’s and Invisalign patient instructions bags
- Sterilization and packing of instruments throughout the day
- Overall Maintenance of station and treatment area
- Restocking of supplies at work station and treatment area
Minimum Education and Experience
- Be at least 17 years old
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Excellent Customer Service Experience
