Position Overview
Armed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, protecting personnel, assets, and ensuring the security of multiple critical infrastructure sites. This is a 24/7 operation, requiring commitment to high standards of vigilance and professionalism.
Provide armed security services at designated TEP locations.
- Perform access control, surveillance, and incident response as per site-specific Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct vehicle and foot patrols across various locations.
- Respond to emergencies and high-risk situations to mitigate or prevent the loss of life.
- Operate security technology and communications equipment (e.g., radios, GPS tracking, and mobile surveillance units).
- Maintain clear and detailed records of security activities, incidents, and end-of-shift reports.
- Must be flexible to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Collaborate with the Security Command Center (SCC) and other security personnel to ensure continuous security operations.
- Uphold all federal, state, and local laws in conjunction with TEP’s security policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- MUST HAVE- A valid unexpired Armed Guard Security License issued by the State of Arizona and or New Mexico, if applicable
- MUST HAVE-A valid unexpired Unarmed Guard Card state of Arizona and or New Mexico, if applicable
- MUST HAVE-A valid unexpired US Driver’s License
- MUST HAVE- CPR/AED First Aid certification (Red Cross or equivalent)
- MUST HAVE-Taser Certification
- MUST PASS- A background check and Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA)
- Must have a clear criminal history; no felonies or Class A misdemeanors.
- Must have and maintain a safe driving record.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must possess a High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
Experience:
Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience
Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Write clearly and concisely using acceptable grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Write organized, complete, accurate and factual reports.
Physical Demands
Must be able to perform physical tasks, including patrolling large areas and standing for extended periods.
- Adapt to temperature changes (including extreme heat)
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
License/Certification:
- Valid Unexpired Armed Security Guard License for AZ or New Mexico, if applicable
- Valid Unexpired Unarmed Security Guard License for AZ or New Mexico, if applicable
- CPR/AED First Aid Training
- A valid Unexpired US Drivers License
- TASER Certification
