Position Title : IT Project Manager
Reports To : Manager, IT Project Delivery
Location : Remote - Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Albany
Employment Type : Full-Time Long Term Contract
Position Summary
The IT Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering application, operational, and business projects within the healthcare industry. Guided by the Manager of IT Project Delivery, this role requires leadership in planning, coordinating, and managing matrixed teams to achieve project goals from inception to completion. The position involves collaboration across departments, maintaining scope, and ensuring the alignment of projects with strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have come up through the ranks for IT as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst. This position will require hands on analysis work as well as Data Mapping and working with Datasets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Plan, direct, and coordinate matrixed team activities to deliver projects from business case development to close-out.
Schedule, monitor, and report on project activities while adhering to approved scope.
Monitor and control project economics, including budgets, staffing, resources, and risks.
Manage project scope, requirements, and change requests effectively. Resource & Risk Management
Identify the appropriate blend of talent and resources to meet project objectives.
Develop contingency plans to address potential scheduling, resource, or funding challenges.
Escalate unresolved issues through proper channels, providing proposed solutions as necessary. Stakeholder Communication
Meet regularly with stakeholders to review project progress and resolve issues.
Develop and present comprehensive reports, status updates, and executive presentations.
Serve as a liaison between functional partners, users, and suppliers. Quality & Process Improvement
Establish metrics to measure key project criteria and evaluate performance.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing efficiencies.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and project management methodologies. Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor new Project Managers on methodologies, organizational processes, and structures.
Coach cross-functional teams to meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
Represent leadership in meetings, committees, and workgroups, acting as a decision-maker. Change Leadership
Act as a Change Leader, developing and executing strategies that support the Health Plan’s goals.
Work with organizational groups to define project scope in alignment with strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- PMP certification preferred;
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Demonstrated experience with multiple project methodologies, including waterfall, agile, and SDLC.
Technical experience with SQL (creating queries) and Excel (VLOOKUP function)
Experience in healthcare, health insurance, or a similar industry is a plus.
Proven leadership in managing multi-phased, multi-deployment projects. Skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior management effectively.
Expertise in project scope, cost management, and planning.
Proven ability to form and foster high-performance, cross-functional teams.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in quality principles and tools.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $40.00 - $50.00 per hour depending on experience.
