JOB SUMMARY
Travels to dealers to evaluate and improve technical service processes; identifies and formally reports product quality concerns; assists technicians with difficult diagnoses and repairs; conducts occasional technical training to support Center of Excellence (COE). Focuses on vehicles an assigned geographical market area to better understand the effect of weather and geographic issues. Goal is to maximize customer ownership experience and promote the Isuzu brand.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assumes responsibility for resolution of escalated technical assistance cases, contacts dealer personnel to resolve vehicle repair concerns virtually. Performs on-site inspections and repair to resolve issues that are not resolved virtually. Assists the technician in methods of locating the cause and correction for the condition.

2. Evaluates dealer technical repair processes to ensure Isuzu standards and customer satisfaction are achieved and maintained. Observes, measures, and reports entire repair process including but not limited to accurate repair order write-up; dispatch to qualified technician; quick and accurate diagnosis; customer communication; parts ordering; parts dispatch; quality and efficient repair; workmanship control; and delivery. Performs specific areas of evaluation to identify opportunities in dealer service department performance related to shop safety and efficiency, 5S organization, repair quality and accuracy, low cost of ownership, minimal downtime, and Isuzu brand value.

3. Attends in person legal and fire inspections, provides technical guidance for legal team and fire investigation team. Creates reports for inspections when requested.

4. Assists TAC inbound call center, assists Training department, assists Fleet department on an as needed basis.

5. Conducts instructor-led technical training to support COE training function.
6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- Associate degree in automotive technology or mechanical engineering, or equivalent directly related work experience
- Minimum three years engineering/technical experience in the automotive field
KNOWLEDGE
- Strong knowledge of diesel, gas, and electric vehicle powertrain systems
- Knowledge of application engineering
- Knowledge of government standards for emissions, safety, etc.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong mechanical and technical skills
- Basic PC skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
- Must maintain acceptable driving record
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. There are occasional instances requiring lifting of light to average objects (5 lbs. to 60 lbs.) and rare instances requiring lifting of heavy objects (over 60 lbs).
The position has exposure to heat, cold, grease, exhaust fumes, noise, dirt fields etc. At times required to get under a vehicle or climb into the engine compartment.
Position requires up to 80% travel including overnight stays.
Pay scale for this position is between $85,315 and $108,777. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
