This position includes both engineering of new capabilities and maintenance of existing environments.  We use a mix of different vendors and expect the network engineer to be comfortable working with numerous technologies.  Additionally, the network engineer will produce designs including system, logical, and connectivity drawings, and conduct testing of network designs.   The ideal candidate will maintain technical expertise in diverse areas of network and computer hardware and software including interconnection and interfacing with a wide-range of devices including routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, etc. The network engineer will also evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree and 3 years experience or bachelors with 5 years experience or equivalent
• Experience with the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of networking equipment including switches, routers, and firewalls, including Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switches, Juniper routers and switches, Fortinet firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls.
• At a minimum, the candidate would have working knowledge of spanning tree, trunking, routing protocols, first hop redundancy protocols, and IP subnetting.
• Demonstrated experience for the design and execution of network engineering configuration changes and documentation in a complex IT environment, as well as experience with WANs, encryption devices, VxLAN, multicast, BGP, OSPF, and Wireshark.
• Active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (Security or equivalent) with Continuing Education (CE)
• The candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer interface skills, be a quick learner, and be able to multi-task in a dynamic and fast paced environment while maintaining a can-do attitude.
• Active SECRET clearance required with the expectation of obtaining a TS/SCI
• Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.
• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers as well as independently at times on large field projects.
• Candidate must have proven troubleshooting skills.
• Candidates with experience planning and supporting the deployment of network infrastructure are highly desired.
• Prior Program network experience is also a plus.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with SIPRNet, MDACNet, or other DOD networks.
• Certifications such as COMPTIA Network , Juniper JNCIA, and Cisco CCNA/CCNP.
• Understanding of the project lifecycle, related processes, and traditional systems engineering skills.
• Experience in reviewing work products produced by a team of engineers for quality, completeness, and adherence to established procedures and policies.
• Active TOP SECRET SCI clearance preferred
• Travel may be required to support both local and remote sites.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, stand and climb stairs and steps. May require walking long distance from parking to work station. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
