Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 12 years of Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on cloud environments.
- Expertise in SQL Server, Always On clusters, and secondary databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) with automation skills (Python, Terraform).
- Extensive knowledge of database technologies, especially Postgres, and familiarity with AWS cloud services.
- Proficient in using IAM, EC2, RDS, S3, and observability tools like Splunk and Datadog.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Terraform.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
- Optional: Experience with Oracle and SQL Server is a plus.
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable database solutions on AWS platforms.
- Implement and maintain IAM policies and security measures to protect database environments.
- Utilize AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and S3 to optimize database performance and ensure robust disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
- Monitor database systems with tools like Splunk and Datadog to ensure operational health and performance.
- Write and maintain scripts in Python to automate routine DB platform operations.
- Develop and apply infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using Terraform to manage cloud resources efficiently.
- Conduct performance tuning of database systems to meet the specific requirements of our applications.
- Ensure compliance with the latest industry standards and security practices.
- Manage and support PostgreSQL database technology with optional DB skills such as Oracle and SQL Server.
