Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to lead engineering projects focused on the design, manufacture, and enhancement of crossbow components and related consumer goods. As a Design Engineer, you will apply both fundamental and advanced Mechanical Engineering principles to various stages of product development, from initial design through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design & Prototyping: Apply Mechanical Engineering principles to contribute to the design, prototyping, testing, pre-production, production tooling, and product implementation for crossbows and related components. Design components using SolidWorks.
- Component & Assembly Design: Lead studies on engineering proposals to develop components and assemblies, as well as the associated assembly equipment and machines for crossbows and related components. Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and mold flow analysis with minimal guidance from the Director or Senior Design Engineer.
- Engineering Change Management: Perform production part, drawing, and assembly revisions through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.
- Data Management & Documentation: Manage data and higher-level Enterprise Document Management functions using SolidWorks. Establish and maintain dimensional analysis documentation for each part, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Dimensional Analysis: Perform stack-up dimensional analysis on new and existing assemblies to ensure fit and functionality.
- Project Management: Oversee projects from design through production launch. Collaborate closely with the Quality and Procurement teams to ensure smooth transitions from design to manufacturing.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Certifications: Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE) preferred. Certified SolidWorks Simulation Professional (CSWP-S) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, and/or project management.
- Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks (required).
- Machining & Manufacturing Knowledge: Advanced understanding of machining practices, injection molding equipment, product design, dimensioning, tolerancing, and inspection tools is preferred.
- Design Expertise: In-depth knowledge of crossbow components, assembly processes, and product lifecycle management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in product design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality and Procurement.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality control throughout the product development process.
