Position Title: Program Director, Workday Implementation
Location: Vermont
Job Type: Contract (4-Year Duration with Initial 1-Year Term)
Basic Function:
The Workday Program Director will provide executive-level leadership, oversight, and coordination of the entire Workday implementation process and related activities. This includes leading and facilitating the Workday Steering Committee, overseeing the Workday Core Team, and ensuring the effectiveness of related functional sub-teams. The Program Director will be responsible for providing direction and supervision through both direct and indirect reporting relationships to project managers, business and process analysts, systems leads, and other functional stakeholders engaged in the implementation effort.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership and Planning:
- Lead the planning, preparation, and stakeholder collaboration efforts needed for the successful delivery of the Workday implementation program.
- Ensure alignment with the project plans and statement of work provided by the vendor.
- Oversee the development and execution of the overall Workday implementation strategy and ensure it meets organizational objectives.
- Steering Committee and Governance:
- Provide leadership and facilitate the Workday Steering Committee, ensuring the governance processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster communication and collaboration across all stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives and expectations.
- Project Management and Team Coordination:
- Offer direction to project managers, business and process analysts, systems leads, change leaders, and other functional stakeholders.
- Ensure the implementation process adheres to the timeline, budget, and scope established at the start of the project.
- Regular Reporting and Communication:
- Deliver regular program updates to the sponsors, senior leadership, the Board of Trustees, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide clear and concise updates regarding project plans, progress, challenges, barriers, and potential risks.
- Deliverables and System Configurations:
- Ensure that all system configurations and project deliverables meet the technical and functional objectives of the institutions and shared service units involved.
- Collaborate with the technical and functional teams to guarantee successful configuration, testing, and implementation of the Workday platform.
- Resource, Budget, and Scope Management:
- Manage the daily adjustments of project resources, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
- Address any project scope changes, and proactively manage potential risks that could significantly impact the budget or timeline.
- Ensure effective resource allocation and oversee project timelines to meet key milestones.
Term and Time Commitment:
- This role is expected to last for approximately four years, with an initial contract term of one year, subject to renewal based on performance and project needs.
- Full-time commitment is required, with flexibility in hours to manage project demands across different time zones, if applicable.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Human Resources, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in large-scale enterprise software implementations, particularly with Workday, or other cloud-based HR systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing complex programs and cross-functional teams.
- Strong background in project management and governance frameworks.
- Experience working with senior leadership, including executive teams and boards.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources in a dynamic project environment.
Salary : $90 - $110
