Key Responsibilities
- Sleep Studies: Set up and monitor polysomnographic sleep studies to assess and analyze patients’ sleep patterns, including respiratory, cardiac, and neurological functions.
- Patient Evaluation: Assess patient sleep data during the study and determine if further evaluation or treatment adjustments are necessary.
- Equipment Management: Ensure the proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of sleep study equipment to guarantee the collection of accurate data.
- Patient Care: Provide continuous monitoring of patients during sleep studies to ensure comfort, safety, and accurate data capture.
- Follow-up Care: Offer follow-up care and support to patients to ensure effective treatment and adherence to prescribed therapies.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate records of patients' sleep patterns, treatment interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sleep specialists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and assist in developing treatment plans for patients.
- Patient Education: Educate patients about their sleep disorders, treatment options, and the importance of adhering to therapy for optimal health.
- Credential: Must be a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credentialed by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Sleep Technologist, with hands-on experience performing polysomnographic studies.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to assess and respond to changes in patient data during studies.
- Patient Care: Ability to assess and interpret patient data and provide follow-up care to ensure successful treatment.
- Familiarity with current sleep study equipment and scoring software.
