We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing complex electrical systems for large commercial and mission-critical buildings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing dual redundant power distribution systems, including backup generator power for lighting, fire alarm, monitoring, and security systems. This role requires close coordination with architectural, mechanical, and structural departments, as well as support for Project and Construction Managers.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing complex electrical systems for large commercial and mission-critical buildings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing dual redundant power distribution systems, including backup generator power for lighting, fire alarm, monitoring, and security systems. This role requires close coordination with architectural, mechanical, and structural departments, as well as support for Project and Construction Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Work independently with minimal supervision to prepare electrical engineering construction documents, specifications, reports, and project budget estimates.
- Design mission-critical electrical systems for Telecom and Data Center projects, ensuring 100% redundancy and backup power.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of electrical construction documents.
- Respond to code official reviews and comments, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Attend construction meetings, review shop drawings, and address contractor RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Conduct field visits, final inspections, and prepare written punch lists for completed projects.
- Prepare specifications, drawings, and details for electrical equipment vendors to obtain pricing and facilitate procurement.
- Develop and modify construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Travel overnight as needed for field surveys, inspections, and client meetings.
- Proficiently use lighting simulation software (AGi32) to design lighting systems.
- Perform power coordination and arc flash studies using SKM software.
- Conduct energy code analysis and compliance review, including the use of ComCheck software.
- Write, edit, and review Masterspec specifications for electrical systems.
- Develop and review commissioning scripts for complex electrical systems.
- Perform feasibility studies and facility condition assessments, preparing comprehensive reports.
- Select electrical equipment using manufacturer-specific programs.
- Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Assist and guide junior electrical engineering team members, providing mentorship and support.
- Ability to acquire PE (Professional Engineer) licenses in other states as needed and sign and seal drawings as appropriate.
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering.
- Certification: EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification is required. PE (Professional Engineer) license with NCEES council record is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, with a focus on electrical system design.
- Specific Experience:
- Mission-critical systems design, including Telecom and Data Centers.
- QA/QC for electrical construction documents.
- Code compliance and energy code analysis.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32 (lighting simulation), SKM (power coordination and arc flash studies), and ComCheck.
- Experience with commissioning scripts, equipment selection, and feasibility assessments.
- Ability to manage complex electrical projects and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Additional Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience guiding junior engineers.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations.
- LEED certification is desirable.
