The Project Engineer will oversee larger project aspects, ensuring alignment with specifications, schedules, and budgets. Both positions play critical roles in the success of heavy civil projects in the Asheville and Waynesville areas.
Essential Functions
Senior Field Engineer:
- Participate in estimate turnover meetings and assist in converting estimates into controlled budgets.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and manage quantities for field operations.
- Coordinate and review submittals, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Procure and schedule subcontractors and materials, supporting project crews effectively.
- Assist in developing and monitoring work plans with project engineers and superintendents.
- Manage cost reporting and support change order pricing.
- Participate in project document control processes, maintaining accurate project drawings and specifications.
- Support project close-out processes, including As-Built drawings and final cost reporting.
Senior Field Engineer:
- 3-5 years of recent experience in heavy highway, road, or bridge construction (internship experience with a heavy civil contractor is a plus).
- Experience with medium to large projects ($10M ).
- Familiarity with Hard Dollar and SAP systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Travel required.
