Location: Melbourne, Florida

Salary Range: USD $101,000 to $175,000

Job Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Manager of State and Local Tax to oversee state income tax functions, including compliance, ASC 740 financial reporting, tax controversy support, and special projects. This position is responsible for managing the state tax deliverables and working with tax leadership to ensure compliance and optimize the company's tax position.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee quarterly and annual income tax provisions, ensuring ASC 740 compliance.
• Manage the preparation and review of state and local tax returns, payments, and extension filings.
• Forecast state tax liabilities, including interest, depreciation, and international modifications.
• Track and assess state attribute utilization, such as credits and carryforwards.
• Analyze and recommend solutions for state tax accruals (FIN48).
• Ensure SOX compliance across state tax processes.
• Lead state tax audits and controversy matters, including defense planning and notice responses.
• Mentor and develop tax team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of state/local tax experience, or a graduate degree with 10 years of experience.
• Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department preferred.
• CPA, JD, or MST is a plus.
• Strong proficiency with MS Excel.
• Experience managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
