Position Summary
The Roadway Superintendent will oversee the successful execution of heavy highway and road construction projects, ensuring production goals, safety, and quality standards are met. This role will manage foremen, subcontractors, and equipment while contributing to the overall success of projects through effective leadership, planning, and communication.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and direct multiple foremen, subcontractors, and crews to achieve production goals.
- Create work plans, 2-week look-ahead schedules, and reports for project updates.
- Conduct weekly meetings to communicate plans, safety requirements, and schedules.
- Ensure thorough understanding of plans and specifications; train and mentor team members.
- Analyze operations to identify safer and more efficient task methods.
- Monitor daily costs, generate monthly cost reports, and provide accurate projections.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, owners, managers, and team members.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, trucks, and trailers.
- Uphold safety standards and maintain compliance with OSHA requirements.
Job Requirements
Required:
* 5-10 years of recent experience in heavy highway, road, or construction projects.
* Proven experience managing road projects valued at $5M or more.
* Strong knowledge of daily cost monitoring, cost reporting, and projections.
* Ability to create schedules and work plans effectively.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* OSHA Competent Person certification.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
* Excellent driving record.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
