Job Title: Cloud Operations Engineer (6-Month Contract to Hire)
Location: Remote (Florida residency required within 6 months of hire)
Contract Rate: $50–$65/hr
Conversion Salary: $90,000–$108,000
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only
A growing team is looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire role supporting critical infrastructure systems. This opportunity is 100% remote. Candidates must either reside in Florida or be willing to relocate within six months of hire.
Responsibilities:
- Design, provision, and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, including containerized environments.
- Ensure high availability and performance of cloud systems through proactive monitoring, patching, and automation.
- Lead migration efforts to modern, highly available cloud solutions with zero downtime.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and support DevOps pipelines.
- Provide guidance and leadership across teams and handle after-hours support for critical 24/7 operations as needed.
Required Skills:
- 4–10 years of experience in IT, including 2 years with AWS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS EC2 (Amazon Linux and RedHat required; Windows Server highly desired), ELB, EBS, EFS, FSx.
- Deep knowledge of AWS Systems Manager (Node, Change Management, Operations tools).
- Experience with patching strategies and automation.
- Familiarity with CloudWatch monitoring for EC2, ELB, EFS, EBS, and RDS.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or similar languages; strong Git skills.
- AWS Backup and Disaster Recovery setup and management.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience architecting enterprise-level cloud infrastructures on AWS.
- Background in containerization (ECS, EKS, Fargate, Docker).
- Familiarity with AWS networking (VPC, Subnet, Security Groups, NACL, DNS, Transit Gateway).
- Exposure to CloudFormation or Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Knowledge of additional AWS services: Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, IAM, Control Tower, and Service Catalog.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects independently and cross-functionally.
Certifications (Required):
- At least one associate-level AWS certification
- Linux certification (RHEL Admin preferred)
