JOB TITLE: Hotel Runner
JOB TYPE: Part Time ONLY – 15 hrs to 32 hrs/week
PAY SCALE: $13.50 - $15.00 DOE – We compensate employees based on their performance and experience, not on assumptions about their worth. Industry experience is valued, but new hires must prove themselves before receiving compensation accordingly.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Dog Daycare Coach / Hotel Runner role is multifaceted. They will aid play yard coaches and the front desk by running dogs to and from those areas. The Hotel Runner is responsible for cleaning and keeping the entire facility clean and sterile, which is critical to the success of this position. Every dog’s suite or crate is to remain clean throughout their shift and no stool or urine should ever be left on a dog. This position requires accurate and updated notes to be kept on each dog and basic health checks should be performed frequently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Caring for dogs – taking them to & from their suites throughout the facility.
- Interacting with dogs in a one-on-one environment and completing enrichment activities with dogs.
- Understand dog body language and mannerisms.
- Cleaning is a primary job function. Must be comfortable with heavy and strenuous cleaning and understand its importance. The duties include sweeping & mopping floors, cleaning/sanitizing suites, crates, hotel areas, play yards, restrooms, and collecting trash. Cleaning walls, windows, floors, counters, dishes, appliances, and dusting. Cleaning dog bowls, pans, buckets, blankets, beds, food storage and prep areas. Removing dog waste is also an essential part of this position.
- Comfortable mopping, scrubbing, scraping, spraying hoses, sweeping, snow removal, loading washing machines, dishwashers, and anything else that is needed to clean/sanitize areas and objects.
- Prepare food and ensure all dogs always have access to fresh water.
- Must be comfortable being on your feet for the entire shift (minus breaks)
- Heavy lifting may be required at times.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Experience in Pet care experience cleaning in a dog facility.
- Must be consistently Responsible and Reliable
- Must not be allergic to dogs.
- Able to hear, learn, and understand auditory behaviors from dogs.
- Able to visually observe, interpret, and react appropriately to dog body language.
- Able to work in a loud environment. (earplugs provided)
- Able to work and handle dogs with various energy levels, behaviors, and ages.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment.
- Able to remain calm, under control, and organized.
- When necessary, actively participate in staff training exercises, learn hands-on, ask questions when something is unclear, and approach everything with a “can-do”, positive attitude.
- Able to utilize It’s A Dog’s Life-required technology, such as e-learning software, apps, and other applicable platforms.
- You will be expected to maintain and adhere to all our policies and procedures and attendance policy during a 90-day probationary period. If you cannot comply, you will be terminated without notice.
- Reliable transportation despite weather conditions. (we are open 365 days a year)
- Weekend AND Holiday availability is required.
- Within 30 days: non-slip shoes are required.
- Within 90 days: Animal CPR/First Aid Certification is required to be completed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift and carry dog food and supplies. (estimated 50 lbs)
- Able to walk and/or stand for the entire designated shift.
- Able to walk and handle dogs ranging in size/weight. (10lbs – 150 lbs)
