Job Summary:

The Co-Teacher plays an essential role in ensuring a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. Working alongside a Lead Teacher, the Co-Teacher will support lesson implementation, engage with children in meaningful activities, and help maintain a safe and organized classroom. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic and patient individual who loves working with children and thrives in a collaborative team setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support & Child Engagement

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Foster a warm and structured environment that supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Engage children in songs, storytelling, creative play, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Provide individualized attention and support to children, ensuring their needs are met throughout the day.
• Help children develop self-help skills, positive social interactions, and independence.

Health, Safety & Supervision

• Ensure constant supervision of children and maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.
• Follow NYS OCFS regulations and It Takes A Village policies regarding health, hygiene, and safety.
• Assist with diapering, potty training, handwashing, and meal/snack routines.
• Keep the classroom and play areas clean, organized, and sanitized.
• Observe and report any concerns regarding a child's development or behavior to the Lead Teacher and administration.

Communication & Relationship-Building

• Foster strong connections with children by offering consistent care, patience, and positive interactions.
• Build meaningful relationships with families, providing daily updates about their child’s activities, progress, and well-being.
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other team members, ensuring a smooth and productive classroom environment.

Team Collaboration & Growth

• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining classroom structure, transitions, and routines.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
• Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
• Be open to learning and growing within the center, taking on responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting is preferred.
• Passion for early childhood education and child development.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain patient in a busy classroom setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to physically keep up with active children (lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for extended periods).

Educational Requirements (per NYS OCFS regulations):

To qualify as a Co-Teacher, you must meet one of the following:

• At least 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or a plan to obtain one.
• Experience working with children in a professional setting, with a willingness to complete required training.

Job Details & Benefits:

Pay: starting at $16.50 per hour (based on experience) Schedule:

• Full-time & Part-time positions available
• Shifts: Monday – Friday
