Technical WriterWashington, D.C.Job Summary : IT Veterans is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. You must have an active TS / SCI clearance.Overview : We are seeking a dedicated Technical Writer to support our federal contracting efforts. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation that supports IT and cybersecurity projects. The ideal candidate will have experience writing SOPs, installation guides, and technical manuals while also assisting with proposal writing when needed. This role requires attention to detail, strong research skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation.What You'll Do : Develop, write, and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical manuals, user guides, and installation documentation.Work closely with engineers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to document technical processes and ensure accuracy.Create clear and well-structured installation and configuration guides for IT systems and software deployments.Maintain version control and ensure all documentation is updated and aligned with industry standards.Assist in developing and editing technical proposals, white papers, and responses to federal RFPs to support business development efforts.Conduct research and interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and branding across all documents.Support knowledge management efforts by organizing and maintaining document repositories.What You Bring to the Team : Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.Minimum of five years of experience writing technical documentation, including SOPs and installation guides.Strong knowledge of technical writing best practices, formatting, and structuring documents for clarity and usability.Familiarity with cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or software development concepts.Experience writing proposals for federal contracts, a plus.Strong research skills and the ability to work with SMEs to develop high-quality documentation.Excellent editing, proofreading, and formatting skills.Understanding of graphics and visualization tools to enhance documentation (e.g., Visio, Adobe Acrobat).Must have an active TS clearanceAt IT Veterans LLC, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
