The role will directly report to the Engineering Manager of our customer, having a functional report with the Engineering Manager of Interior and Exterior based in Michigan.

Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from ABET accredited institution or equivalent body structures automotive experience.
Language skills:Fluent knowledge of English is required; Knowledge of Italian is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Lead the packaging, engineering design, release and launch of fascias, front and rear end modules, spoilers, claddings, and decorative trim of an automobile.
- Create cutting edge exterior systems focusing on quality, reliability, functionality, mass and cost efficiency.
- Work interactively within a cross functional studio and vehicle engineering team, placing priority upon the greater benefit of the vehicle above any one individual system.
- Employ and develop world class engineering tools and an innovative approach to support the systems generation.
- Determine required tolerances using GD&T.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Key Requirements
- 5 years of experience in vehicle exterior trim design & development specifically in fascias, front and rear end modules, spoilers, claddings, and decorative trim.
- Experience in creative engineering and 3D problem solving.
- Benchmarking experience to support design activities.
- Proven experience with thermoplastic & thermoset resin materials and class A manufacturing technologies (including painting).
- A good understanding of the range of computational tools available to design engineers.
- Experience in full life cycle from concept to prototype to full production through product launch.
- Experience in technology, system and supplier selection with expectation of leading activities.
- Proven 3D CAD skills, proficient with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software.
- Interpersonal skills, teamwork and great work ethic.
- Solid track record of successful system level integration.
- 7 years of experience with plastics design, Class A surfaces, front crash, aero features, lighting integration, module integration, tooling, resins, supply base, fit and finish, gap and flush, module concept, thermal expansion, structural design, paint (matching).
- Master and Construction Section development experience.
- Regulatory and homologation knowledge primarily for the North American market.
