A fast-growing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) based in Malta is seeking to expand its Finance team with the addition of a driven and detail-oriented Accounts Officer. This role is ideal for a finance professional who is currently employed and pursuing the ACCA qualification, looking to further develop their career within the fintech and payments space.
Role Overview
The Accounts Executive will be responsible for assisting with the daily accounting operations and supporting the Finance Manager in delivering accurate and timely financial reports. This position requires someone with a solid grounding in accounting principles and the ability to work in a regulated, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
- Performs day-to-day accounting duties, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
- Supports the preparation of tax and regulatory submissions in line with local requirements (MFSA, FIAU, etc)
- Contributes to budgeting and forecasting processes
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data
- Prepares supporting documentation for internal and external audits
- Maintains compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Identifies opportunities for improvements within financial processes
- Actively studying for the ACCA qualification (preferably mid-level)
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role
- Experience in financial services, particularly within an EMI or fintech environment, is considered an asset
- Good knowledge of accounting standards and local financial regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to balance work responsibilities alongside ACCA studies
