Description
Job Title: Dance Instructor
Department: Recreation: Dance
Immediate
Supervisor: The Dance Instructor is under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.
Summary: The Dance Instructor will help coordinate the Dance program for ages three through adult. Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Dance Instructor is responsible for choreographing, teaching and coordinating a variety of dance classes, communicating with parents on a continual basis and be a major part of planning and implementing the annual Dance Recital.
Essential
Functions: 1. Implementation of assigned dance classes
2. Instruction of assigned dance classes
3. Development of new and exciting classes
4. Coordination of dance recital, choreography and sets.
Marginal
Functions:
1. Assistance with ordering costumes and scheduling pictures.
2. Completion of administrative duties which may include letters to parents or notifications regarding the dance program.
Education: High School Degree and a current First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
Qualifications: Minimum 18 years or older. Dance experience and a background working with children.
Psychological
Considerations: The Dance Instructor must be able to work under close supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. He or she must be able to work with the general public, including parents and staff.
Physiological
Considerations: Prolonged standing could affect some individual’s blood pressure. The Dance Instructor may need to respond quickly and accurately. Light lifting up to 45 pounds.
Environmental
Considerations: May be exposed to all weather conditions. May be required to work in various temperatures with in the facility.
Cognitive
Considerations: Must possess good safety awareness and judgment.
