The National Security Division (NSD) is tasked with executing one of the Department of Justice’s highest priorities: combating terrorism and addressing threats to national security. The Infrastructure Support and Software Development Services Division plays a critical role in enabling NSD's mission by delivering robust and secure IT services across Infrastructure & Operations, Software Development, Engineering, and Service Desk functions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Systems Engineer to support the NSD's IT operations and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft systems administration, operating systems, server management, and endpoint technologies. This role is essential to ensuring the availability, security, and reliability of the systems supporting national security efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide full lifecycle support for system operations, including hardware, operating systems (OS), and utilities across all servers and computing environments.
- Perform configuration, patch management, and version upgrades, ensuring operational continuity and security compliance.
- Act as a Tier 2 escalation point, resolving complex issues not addressed by Tier 1 support staff.
- Monitor, provision, and maintain platform services with an emphasis on performance, availability, and security.
- Collaborate with COTS/GOTS application vendors to ensure software functionality and compatibility within the infrastructure.
- Apply broad technical expertise across multiple disciplines to develop tailored solutions that address client-specific challenges.
- Assist stakeholders in defining IT goals and objectives aligned with mission needs.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with client operating practices and security standards.
Qualifications
- 10 years of IT experience with 5 years of experience in Microsoft Systems Engineering/Administration
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Domain Controller management
- Proven Endpoint Management experience (e.g., SCCM, Intune, or similar platforms)
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred; may be substituted with 2 additional years of relevant experience
- Relevant infrastructure certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.)
- Active Top Secret, required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
