JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Systems Lead supports the Finance organization leveraging financial systems/applications to meet the planning/reporting needs of the business. Will design, develop, and implement system solutions and interface frequently with management and other team members to gather requirements and develop system/reporting solutions for internal and external stakeholders. Serves as a technical expert and recommends new functionality that drives innovation for existing financial systems, databases and/or new applications. Additionally, supports business objectives and management decision making by preparing and maintaining routine financial analyses and spreadsheets for any of the following specialty areas: capital and operating expense planning, forecasting and financial analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops knowledge of the business and becomes a subject-matter expert of financial systems/applications
- Identifies system enhancements and drives innovation for the development, modification, administration, and usage of financial systems/applications
- Leads large cross-functional projects and takes a proactive approach to tasks and professional relationships
- Performs production support of delivered reports and system enhancements
- Collaborates with colleagues to gather requirements and define/implement analytical tools, reports, metrics and dashboards to meet business needs
- Models and queries data and builds dashboards within financial systems/applications
- Prepares and maintains system/application documentation and manuals, training content and end-user communications
- Supports technical resources with implementations, installation and regressing testing of new releases, upgrades and fixes, and understands the development life cycle
- Develops and maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies and best practices
- Performs financial analysis and acts as a resource for other areas across the company as needed which may include but is not limited to: Financial analysis for special projects, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc reporting for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or a related area; Master's degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education
- Minimum Experience of seven (7) years combined work experience in the following:
- Hands on experience with the following: Metadata / Web Forms / Calculation Scripts / Business Rules / Member Formulas / Data Load Rules / Financial Reports / Security / MS SQL Server / Visual Studio / ETL development including complex SQL
- Experience designing, developing, implementing and/or administering financial planning/reporting applications (preferably PBCS, Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Planning, PowerPlant, PowerBI, and/or PeopleSoft)
- Financial systems within an accounting/finance department, in an administrative/functional capacity, supporting related modules with an understanding of business processes, business system requirements, enhancements and upgrade projects, including development and documentation of user test scripts, acceptance testing
- Financial modeling and analysis in business planning and forecasting, preferably in the preparation and analysis of capital and operating expense budgets and performance reports
- Well organized, analytical mind, that requires minimal direct supervision while working within a team environment
- Ability to exercise good judgement and draw valid conclusions
- Understand the accounting and workflows in a multi-departmental and multi-company environment
- Advanced problem-solving skills and a strong aptitude in technology
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial models/information and their concepts
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex ideas and information
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
- Ability to learn and utilize job specific software
- The Lead may provide direction to lower-level professionals and/or support employees
