JOB SUMMARY
Provides administrative and technical leadership to real time operating system staff responsible for the 24/7 safe and reliable operation of the ITC electric transmission systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the overall operations of the Operations Control Room (OCR).
- Provides direct supervision to Senior Transmission System Coordinators (TSC) and OCR Assistant Managers.
- Establishes group and individual goals and metrics for Senior TSCs and Assistant OCR Manager.
- Establishes, maintains and enforces policies and procedures for the OCR and field staff to ensure processes are aligned with company and regulatory requirements and are appropriately implemented.
- Demonstrates expertise in continuous improvement, with a strong focus on optimizing processes and implementing metrics to enhance operational efficiency and performance to assist in the advancement of the OCR.
- Establishes methods for evaluating performance to achieve company goals and metrics; mentors and evaluates the performance of staff.
- Works with Operations Training to identify and address any gaps in system operator's knowledge, skills or performance.
- Manages the relationship between real time operations and other groups (Operations Support, Operations Training, Operations Engineering, Transmission Management System Support, and the various Engineering Support groups) to ensure appropriate level of support.
- Provide subject matter expert support to ensure all compliance requirements related to OCR operation are met.
- Leads internal working groups/committees to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
- Represents Company on external working groups and committees.
- Performs after action reviews for OCR events.
- Develops reports to management and regulatory entities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required in Science, Engineering or Technology or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) certification at the Reliability Coordinator level.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in real time operations, preferably in a transmission system control room environment.
- Minimum of three (5) years supervisory experience.
- Knowledgeable in Energy/Transmission Management System computer applications.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to effectively manage teams and people.
- Must possess good analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide leadership in emergency situations.
- Must have effective verbal and written communications skills.
