JOB SUMMARY
Acts as the finance liaison and primary contact for financial analyses and model management. Serves as the subject matter expert with advanced modeling, analysis and project management skills. Oversees various financial analysis and reporting functions to improve planning activities. Focus is on the financial evaluation of business opportunities which create shareholder value and assessing their impacts to the company’s operations. Provides analytical support for continuous improvement of business, operating and strategic decision-making processes, both forward-looking and business focused.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Prepares and manages numerous financial models – corporate, project-based and ad hoc models.
- Completes advanced financial analyses, special projects and ad hoc reporting as required; clearly communicates results and variance explanations to management and shareholders.
- Manages financial-related activities for development-related initiatives, e.g., estimates costs and calculates revenue requirements for competitive regulated and non-regulated projects.
- Coordinates within and across departments, as well as internal/external stakeholders, to perform ad hoc requests and to leverage the expertise of others.
- Supports business objectives and leadership decision making within Finance function by developing, preparing and maintaining complex financial analyses, spreadsheets and models.
- Prepares financial analyses required for debt and equity offerings, financings, regulatory filings, etc.
- Manages and/or supports financial aspects of corporate objectives and other opportunities, from origination to execution and integration in the company; includes financial feasibility analysis, coordination of diligence, project progress & milestone updates, assessing reporting requirements and analysis of proper structuring.
- Coordinates materials for executives and the Board, ensuring accuracy as the lead reviewer.
- Supports, guides and reviews other analysts’ deliverables within the Finance team
- Creates and maintains working relationships with partners outside of Finance and third-party consultants.
- Maintains awareness of industry best practices and educate internal staff.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree with major in relevant business field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.) or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education; Master’s degree in business administration, finance or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in financial modeling and financial analysis.
- Proficient ability to analyze and interpret complex financial models/information, including ability to use complex functions and create excel macros.
- Demonstrated strong presentation and communication skills and the ability to build relationships with departments outside of Finance
- Knowledge and familiarity about the principles of debt financing
- Exceptional project management capability and Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of the utility business preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Treasury function.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with leadership and individuals both inside and outside the company.
- Microsoft Excel modeling skills, both comprehensive, integrated spreadsheets and ad-hoc analyses; superior Microsoft PowerPoint skills for internal, Board and external presentations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
