Job Description
The Senior Sustaining Engineer will play a pivotal role within the Global Manufacturing Operations team, focusing on design improvements and process optimizations for existing products.
This includes managing and sustaining products from third-party optics, ODM, and global EMS suppliers.
The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a proactive, collaborative approach, capable of working effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders. A strong partnership with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers is essential to ensure product success throughout its lifecycle.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide engineering support for design modifications and process improvements for existing products.
- Coordinate design and process change activities across internal and external teams.
- Oversee product change notices, ensuring design files remain accurate and up to date.
- Evaluate proposed design and process changes for their impact on products; create and present project proposals for manufacturing implementation.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams, ensuring compliance with test specifications and alignment with corporate revenue goals.
- Develop and manage design inputs and outputs for changes to existing products.
- Integrate and validate new or modified test methods in manufacturing processes.
- Support engineering teams during verification, qualification, and validation phases of product updates.
- Participate in risk management activities, including risk assessments and reviews for existing products.
- Evaluate EOL components in the BOM, review PCNs and recommend suitable alternatives.
- Investigate non-conformances related to component or product failures, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Provide support for customer complaints through product investigations, health risk assessments, and report preparation.
- Support regulatory approvals, create Declaration of Conformity documents and respond to regulatory inquiries for existing products.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams on continuous cost-reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Skills and Experience
Education
Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably in Electronics / Electrical Engineering)
