ITCON Services is actively seeking a talented individual with an active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance to join our team as a Database Engineer to design, develop, optimize, and maintain our database systems to support high-performance applications and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have expertise in modern database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud-based solutions, automation, and performance tuning. You will collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure data operations.
Responsibilities:
- Database Design & Development: Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient database architectures using SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis) solutions.
Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize query performance, indexing, caching, and partitioning strategies for high-availability and large-scale applications. - Data Security & Compliance: Ensure data encryption, backup strategies, role-based access control (RBAC), and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
- Cloud & DevOps Integration: Deploy and manage databases in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, leveraging services like Amazon RDS, Aurora, Cosmos DB, and Firebase. Work with Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments.
- ETL & Data Pipelines : Develop and maintain ETL processes, data pipelines, and integrations with big data technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, or Snowflake.
- Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Implement database replication, clustering, failover mechanisms, and backup/recovery strategies to ensure data integrity.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or CloudWatch to proactively monitor database health and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with software developers, data engineers, and analysts to support application development and data-driven decision-making. Maintain clear documentation of database architecture, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in database engineering, administration, or development.
- Strong expertise in SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based databases and managed database services.
- Knowledge of data modeling, indexing, and normalization.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation.
- Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines and data warehousing.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Requirements
- Must possess an active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance
- Must be within driving distance of Richardson, Texas, or willing to relocate to the area (Relocation Assistance Package Available)
