Scope Of The Project:
SCDMV employs a multi-tiered architecture in its core business
systems. The business application tier utilizes microfocus visual
COBOL, which runs under IIS on MS Windows 2019 servers. This
assignment will support the development of new business functions and
troubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of existing functions
in this environment within the existing SCDMV application framework.
Projects may include business logic supporting on-line systems, batch
programming, data extraction, and reports involving all SCDMV business
areas. This engineer will work closely and will be involved with both
the UI tiers which are MS .net applications (vb.net, c#.net) and the
database tiers in both SQL and oracle. Production troubleshooting
support will be expected so some level of production support
experience is required. This contractor will be expected to work with
minimal supervision, will be in direct contact with business area
specialists, develop technical approaches and designs, code, test, and
support these functions. Communication skills must be excellent.
Daily Duties /Responsibilities:
1. Analyze the SCDMV Phoenix ii, web service, and batch business applications
2. Take the lead in analyzing and troubleshooting assigned system problems
3. Propose solutions
4. Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring that
the solution meets requirements.
5. Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager.
Required Skills (rank in order of Importance):
- COBOL development with MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL using Visual Studio
2019/2022 in Windows Server 2019/2022 under IIS.
Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance):
- Visual Studio 2019/2022 – Debugging
- IIS configuration/setup
- Microsoft Team Foundation Server
- Microsoft C# .NET
- Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL).
- SQL for Oracle DB.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
PREFER BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RELATED DISCIPLINE
WITH 8 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE OR MINIMUM 10 YEARS RELATED EXPERIENCE IN
LIEU OF DEGREE.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
NOT REQUIRED BUT MS TECHNICAL CERTIFICATIONS WILL BE FACTORED IN THE
SELECTION PROCESS.
MICROFOCUS CERTIFICATIONS ARE A SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGE
