JOB SUMMARY
The Analyst is responsible for preparing samples and measuring specifications using prescribed lab equipment for each product. Analyzes samples by following established procedures to determine sample condition and specifications. Records data and measurements. Conducts database searches, identifies selections, makes report comments, and generates reports based on correct specifications. Maintains optimal efficiency and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Measures, evaluates, and analyzes all sample specifications, assessment form information, database selections, websites, and library samples to ensure accuracy in determining like, kind and quality selections or matches
- Operates and utilizes lab equipment/tools as required, following current lab procedures
- Documents and verifies all unusual specifications, poor sample conditions, and any aspects of individual samples that does not comply with industry norms by placing internal notes and report comments in iTEL software
- Communicates with manufacturers and distributors as required by specific products
- Generates a customer report containing findings of the analysis
- Files and stores samples according to set procedures
- Assists in “Disaster Recovery” implementation and building wrap exercises for hurricane preparedness
- Assists other departments as needed or directed
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2) years of job-related experience required, preferably in the flooring, siding, or roofing industries
- Must be detail-oriented and can evaluate mathematical data and arrive at a decision
- Ability to operate light industrial machinery, measuring devices (ie. microscopes, calipers, vision systems, spectrometers, etc.), and a variety of general tools
- Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks
- Effective problem solving
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT USE
- Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds
- Frequent use of office machines to include telephone, computer, and printer
