What are the responsibilities and job description for the 5S Specialist position at Iten Defense?
We are seeking a dedicated 5S Specialist to support our continuous improvement efforts in the manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving the 5S methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) throughout the facility. You will work closely with production teams and leadership to ensure that workplace organization and cleanliness are aligned with operational efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the 5S program across all production areas.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with 5S standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with department leaders and teams to develop and implement 5S training programs for all employees.
- Assist in organizing and optimizing workstations, tools, materials, and inventory to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Establish and monitor systems for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set and standardize best practices related to 5S in the workplace.
- Track progress, measure success, and report on the results of 5S initiatives.
- Identify root causes of inefficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement across all shifts.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to employees at all levels to ensure adherence to 5S principles.
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to 5S initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment with a focus on 5S or Lean methodologies.
- Strong knowledge and experience in 5S implementation, as well as continuous improvement principles such as Lean and Kaizen.
- Previous experience in a leadership or training role is a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
- Ability to perform 5S audits, assess systems, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Familiarity with production management software and basic computer skills.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing or 5S (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
