What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at Iten Defense?
Purpose
The Plant Manager will lead and manage all production people and assets at the Ashtabula facility. This includes cutting, pressing, water jet, assembly, and shipping operations. This is primarily a day shift position, but the plant manager is responsible for the production on all shifts which currently include 1st, 3rd, and weekend shifts.
Supervisory Responsibility
· Works with HR to set the correct organizational structure as well as maintain appropriate staffing given current and future demand levels.
· Responsible for making sure employees receive the necessary training.
· Oversees schedules and assignments for the division.
· Ensures performance evaluations are timely and constructive.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Essential Functions
· Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
· Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.
· Responsible for the first and final pass quality metrics and working with the quality and technical teams to remove and streamline quality issues.
· Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety contacts.
· Assists Chief Operating Officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new process, machinery, or production lines.
· Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
· Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
· Works with chief financial officer to monitor and control production costs.
· Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
· Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
· Bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred.
· At least ten years of experience in manufacturing, three years of management required.

Work Environment
Work is performed in an office on the shop floor and on the production floor around heavy equipment, wet work environment, and exposure to loud noises and intermittent heat/cold. Work environment is fast-paced, and employee must be able to multi-task and manage time in a 24/7 environment.
