About Position:
A Fiber Splicer plays a critical role deployment, maintenance, and repair of our outside plant fiber optic infrastructure, responsible for splicing fiber optic cables, testing and troubleshooting fiber paths, and ensuring high-quality standards for network performance and reliability. This position requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform fiber splicing tasks in various outdoor settings, including aerial, underground, and building entries.
- Read, interpret, and update network maps, splice schematics, and engineering field notes.
- Use fiber optic splicing and testing equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), power meters, and light sources to ensure optimal network performance.
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic links to identify and resolve issues such as breaks, bends, or bad splices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations during all operations.
- Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.

- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency repairs and maintenance outside of normal working hours.
- Stay updated on the latest fiber optic technology and splicing techniques through continuous learning and professional development
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical school coursework in telecommunications, electronics, or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in fiber optic splicing, telecommunications, or a similar field is highly desirable but not required.
- Basic understanding of telecommunications networks and fiber optic technology
