What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Servicing Specialist I position at ITHINK FINANCIAL?
Primary Function: Perform a variety of specialized Mortgage Servicing and Administrative Duties. Provide accurate payoff quotes for all first and second mortgage loans. Process all payoff funds received via check or wire transfer. Actively participate in Mortgage Servicing Call Center queue. Explain and refer Credit Union products and services. Complete Verifications of Mortgage for third party vendors. Perform variety tasks as directed by manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Posting payments to members’ accounts, posting monies to GL accounts, payoffs.
- Perform branch balancing, as needed
- Assist with balancing GL accounts monthly with the Accounting Department.
- Actively participate in Mortgage Servicing Call Center.
- Cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
- Process service requests daily in CRM and distribute appropriately throughout department.
- Assist with preparing Satisfactions for County Recording and Mail Recorded Satisfactions to member (Update CRM and Servicing Director)
- Maintain GL’s 8.800.19 and 8.899.70.
- Ensure mail packages are collected and logged daily per schedule
- Maintain the physical mortgage files in correct alphabetical order in fireproof cabinet.
- Inform management when goals for post-closing, satisfactions and document retention are not satisfactorily achieved.
- Monitor daily first mortgage rates through Fannie Mae and provide current competitor rates to senior management for review
- Update first mortgage rates as needed
- Order tax certificates through vendor on recently funded first mortgages
- Tracking ARM changes through monthly reporting, ensure initial and subsequent letters are mailed timely to borrowers, and communicate with Electronic Processing on any Direct Pay changes due to ARM change.
- Prepare and process 2nd mortgage loan subordinations
- Participate in processing and distributing PO Box items
- Ensure procedures for daily tasks are accurate and up to date.
- Understand and describe the purpose of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti Money Laundering, and Office of Foreign Asset Control policy (OFAC). Identify the BSA Administrator and responsibilities. Complete annual BSA training. Know where to find the BSA policies, procedures, and forms.
- Responsible for processing member information and transactions consistent with BSA policy and procedures. Understand the regulatory requirements and the internal BSA/AML policies, procedures, and processes. Understand and describe; Suspicious Activity Report (SAR), Currency Transaction Report (CTR), Customer Due Diligence policy (CDD), and Office of Foreign Asset Control policy (OFAC). Complete and file appropriate forms in a timely manner; Suspicious Activity Report, Currency Transaction Report, Document CRM consistently as directed by operational procedures.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with the iTHINK Financial Cybersecurity Phishing Standards and Guidelines for the safety and soundness of the Credit Union. Complete on-going training as assigned to stay current with new trends. Know where to find the Cybersecurity policies and procedures.
