- The work is expected to follow BCA's hybrid approach, requiring Mondays and Tuesdays in the office, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays work from home. Days onsite and telecommuting could shift based on work team schedules.
Description of Project
The Minnesota Department of Information Technology Services (MNIT) partnering with Department of Public Safety (DPS), Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is seeking one full-time Cloud Engineer to work in the Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) section of the BCA to embark on a significant cloud transformation initiative to modernize its IT infrastructure and applications currently hosted on-premises, by moving towards a cloud-first strategy. The Cloud Engineer will be migrating existing applications to the cloud, which involves assessing application dependencies, architecture as needed for optimal cloud performance, and executing the migration process with minimal disruption. The Cloud Engineer will implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) where automating infrastructure provisioning and management using IaC will be essential for efficiency and consistency. The Cloud Engineer will establish cloud best practices to help define and implement cloud standards, security policies, and cost optimization strategies.
At a high level, the resource will aid in the delivery of a modernized and optimized application portfolio hosted in the cloud by migrating and architecture the on-premises applications with the expectation of achieving increased scalability, improved reliability, and reduced operational costs. The resource will implement IaC, which will ensure consistent and repeatable infrastructure deployments, while adhering to cloud best practices will enhance security and performance.
