Location: Hybrid โ 3 days onsite in Minneapolis, MN, Denver, CO, or Amarillo, TX

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Energy Management System (EMS)/SCADA Consultant to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our SCADA and EMS infrastructure. This role requires a technical expert with a deep understanding of power system operations, control systems, and data integration. The ideal candidate will be local to Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO and available to work onsite three days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA/EMS systems for power system operations.
- Develop and implement SCADA communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, ICCP).
- Support data acquisition, real-time monitoring, and control functions for electrical grids.
- Work closely with IT, engineering, and operations teams to optimize system performance.
- Conduct system upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
- Ensure NERC CIP compliance and cybersecurity best practices for EMS/SCADA systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for real-time operational issues.
- Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to integrate new technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with SCADA, EMS, or similar control systems.
- Expertise in SCADA protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, ICCP).
- Experience with SCADA/EMS software (OSIsoft PI, GE, Siemens, ABB, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of power systems, grid operations, and control centers.
- Familiarity with NERC CIP regulations and cybersecurity principles.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot real-time data and alarms.
- Experience working in hybrid environments, supporting both on-premise and cloud-based systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based SCADA solutions (AWS, Azure).
- Programming/scripting knowledge (Python, SQL, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with SCADA historian databases and reporting tools.
- Prior experience in the utility or energy sector.
