Itron's Global Marketing and Public Affairs Department is seeking a Principle within our Government & Regulatory Affairs team to help the Senior Principle and Director to manage Itron's regulatory initiatives and strategies in support of Sales and our key growth initiatives.
In this role, you will work closely with Itron's sales and business lines across the country to analyze utility filings, commission decisions, and regulations that impact our investor-owned utility customers, attend regulatory and policy-related events, and help manage regulatory strategies for key growth initiatives.
In addition to being able to develop and maintain influential relationships with federal and state economic regulators and commission staff, the ideal candidate will also possess good business judgment and knowledge of the utility industry and regulatory processes. You are successful at interpreting information to derive insights and actionable next steps. You are a persuasive writer and oral communicator with strong critical thinking skills and an understanding of how policy considerations and utility regulation impact Itron's business.
While this position will be primarily focused on state economic regulation, there will be a periodic need to provide support for the Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs' efforts developing and implementing strategies on federal policy and legislation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales, business line managers and utility customers to build regulatory acceptance and brand awareness of Itron's solutions and technologies.
- Develop and maintain a regulatory database for key regions or customers to inform sales and proposal efforts.
- Coordinate with outside consultant to publish bi-weekly regulatory newsletter
- Analyze state utility commission filings, legislation, regulations, utility investor communications, strategic plans, integrated resource plans, and rate cases to inform internal regulatory and sales strategies.
- Manage Itron's sponsorship and booth presence at NARUC conferences.
- Develop and foster influential relationships with our customers' regulators (e.g. PUCs)
- Attend regulatory conferences (i.e. NARUC) to stay abreast of changes in utility and / or economic regulatory policy and strategies, documenting and sharing what is learned internally and, as appropriate, with internal clients.
