We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer with software development experience to join our team. This role focuses on enhancing the power systems algorithms in Itron's Grid Planning suite and supporting customer implementation of basic power systems algorithms for their distribution planning, DER interconnection planning, and other utility functions.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in power systems engineering and will be able to demonstrate deep domain knowledge and code development skills for basic power systems algorithms such as Power flow, Optimal Power flow and State Estimation, and a passion for enabling our customers with the tools they need to build and manage the electricity distribution grid of tomorrow.
Duties & Responsibilities
This is an individual contributor role responsible for R&D activities related to the development of new features and applications in the domain of Power Systems Software Engineering used by distribution utilities worldwide.
Responsible for testing, tuning, and fixing issues associated with the power systems algorithms.
Demonstrate best practices and high-quality software development processes following Itron's Scaled Agile development processes.
Educate other team members on the required power systems algorithms to enable them to complete related front-end tasks.
Required Skills & Experience
At least 6 years of working experience in production-grade software design development in the domain of Electrical Power Systems.
Experience working with cloud deployments on Azure or AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages, Python, C , C#
Understanding of manual and automated testing practices.
Experience with Scaled Agile methods.
Education
Master's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Power Systems Engineering.
