Job Description
The PDM / CAD Administrator is responsible for the administration of CAD Software and Product Data Management (PDM) systems. This position is responsible for maintenance of PDM/CAD systems, databases, and infrastructure. This role also supports users, provides training, and develops best practices, processes, and procedures. This role reports to Engineering. Collaboration with IT and other key stakeholders is required to ensure reliable performance and compliance to company policies.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer PDM and CAD systems, databases, and infrastructure. Optimize systems for efficiency and security.
- Monitor policies and practices for database backup and recovery. Ensure that critical databases can be restored quickly and completely.
- Develop policies and practices for engineering data security administration. Ensure that engineering data cannot be accessed by unauthorized persons.
- Troubleshoot PDM and CAD issues with the end user base. Perform root cause analysis to develop, test, and implement fixes that prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver training for PDM and CAD products. Establish and communicate PDM and CAD best practices. Standardize PDM and CAD environments across all workstations.
- Work with IT to develop and support communication protocols between PDM and other data systems as required.
- Manage licenses for PDM and CAD software and add-ons.
- Evaluate, maintain, and develop new tools to support the end user base.
- Evaluate operating systems and upgrades to manage impact on CAD servers and workstations
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or Associate’s degree in CAD, design, drafting or a relevant field of study.
- Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) and/or Certified SolidWorks PDM Professional Administrator (CPAP)
- Minimum 5 years’ applied SolidWorks experience including large assemblies.
- Strong technical experience in PDM or similar administration.
- Good communication skills.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fundamental programming or scripting skills.
- Experience performing SQL queries.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault.
- Experience interfacing with corporate ERP systems.
