The Surgery RN plays a vital role in supporting patients through their fertility journey by delivering exceptional care in the surgical suite. As a Surgery RN, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
We are seeking a Surgery RN to join our dedicated team at IVF Michigan located in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a full-time, onsite role working Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for procedures, perform preoperative assessment, give discharge instructions, and start IV.
- Recover patients after general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care. Reinforce discharge instructions.
- Deliver direct patient care during pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases in the surgical suite.
- Accurately document patient care and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Clearly communicate post-operative instructions to patients and families.
- Oversee surgical suite operations, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and equipment functionality.
- Adhere to and enforce aseptic techniques, quality control measures, and safety standards.
- Initiate emergency protocols as needed and coordinate equipment repairs.
- Mentor new staff and provide updates on any protocol changes.
- Support organizational policies and contribute to process improvements.
- Collaborate with the Surgery Manager to assess equipment and supply needs.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the surgical team.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Education & Licensure:
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Active RN license issued by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a Circulating Nurse in the OR, surgical experience a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $31.00-$36.00 per hour (final offers based on experience, skills, and qualifications).
