What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Coordinator position at IVI Inc.?
This position is responsible for working with IVI’s Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, Field Foreman, Shop Foreman, Shipping/Receiving, Tool Crib and suppliers in purchasing and expediting equipment, materials, products, rentals and services. The Purchasing Coordinator will work daily to monitor and control shop and job site costs.
Responsibilities
· Evaluate requests for purchase of supplies, equipment and services to determine the appropriate procurement method to purchase, bid, or identify a new source of supply.
· Assist in the development of bid specifications and standards to ensure the lowest pricing, promote competition and maintain quality
· Provide support to employees regarding requisitions, purchase orders and vendors
· Process requisitions into purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures and ethics guidelines
· Compile and maintain organized purchasing records by assuring that purchasing activities are fully documented
· Enter daily purchase order/job cost transfers into Sage
· Follow up/expedite calls on outstanding orders using e-mail whenever possible, to maintain documentation of conversations
· Perpetually maintain inventory records or materials and supplies and ensure the accuracy of such is maintained
· Check stock material on a daily basis to ensure min/max material levels are maintained
· Maintain the status of open order records and arrange for the receiving document to be filed so that it can be mated easily to the corresponding incoming invoice
· Work closely with Receiving Department to ensure proper supplies have arrived including work on the expediting report and follow as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management
· 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing/construction purchasing environment preferred.
· Background in purchasing/buying various steel, knowledge of structural steel, negotiating steel prices, knowledge of spiral, ducting, metal rings, fasteners preferred.
