Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the pharmacist in charge or the on-duty pharmacist and is responsible for the day-to-day workflow of specialty and retail pharmacy prescriptions. The workflow consists of intake, filling and dispensing responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist by retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and at times mixing medications.
- Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacists.
- Orders, receives and maintains inventory of drugs and chemicals, and ensures their security.
- Verifies that information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
- Enters data in the computer system, recording all prescriptions, purchase orders, requisitions, and disbursements.
- Performs general clerical duties, such as answering phones, operating cash registers, etc.
- Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting..
Qualifications:
- Preferred to have at least 1 year of experience in retail, mail, or specialty pharmacy.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current and valid Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
- Knowledge of generic and trade names of formulary drugs.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug test as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
