Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in their daily activities. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide home community care by helping clients navigate their environments and engage in community activities.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and individual preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Observe and document patient behavior, health status, and any changes in condition.
- Implement individualized support plans that promote client independence and well-being.
- Assist clients with mobility, including lifting or transferring as needed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Provide first aid as necessary and respond to emergencies following established protocols.
- Foster positive relationships with clients while encouraging social interactions.
Requirements
- Previous experience in direct support or home care is preferred but not required.
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in client behavior or health status.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Ability to lift clients safely and assist with mobility challenges.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
