Primary Role
The Data Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and reliable data architecture solutions that align with the organization’s strategic goals. This role requires leading the integration of complex data systems, including on-premises and cloud-based environments, to support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and decision-making capabilities. The Data Architect will establish and enforce enterprise data standards related to modeling, governance, security, and compliance, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the position involves managing large-scale data migrations, modernizing legacy systems, and driving the adoption of innovative data technologies to optimize performance and cost-efficiency. Collaborating closely with C-level executives, IT teams, and business leaders, the Data Architect will act as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and guidance on data strategies while fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Requirements
· U.S. Citizenship: Non-negotiable. (This differs from eligibility to work in the U.S.)
· Upon position being accepted, candidate must be able to come into office to complete paperwork, verify identification and pick up laptop. Candidates outside of the Rockville, MD area are responsible for any and all travel expenses to the IvoryCloud offices. After a 90 day probation period, employee will be reimbursed.
· Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
· Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, or similar) are highly valued.
Skills and Competencies
1. Technical Proficiency:
o Expert-level skills in data architecture and engineering with an emphasis on hybrid and cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
o Advanced programming experience in Python, Scala, or Java, and strong expertise in SQL for complex data querying and optimization.
o Deep understanding of modern data platforms, such as data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time streaming systems.
2. Data Integration and Governance:
o Hands-on experience integrating on-premises and cloud-based systems to enable advanced analytics and business intelligence.
o Knowledge of enterprise data governance, including security, compliance, and data privacy best practices.
3. Project Leadership:
o Proven ability to lead large-scale data migrations and modernization projects, including cloud adoption and legacy system decommissioning.
o Skilled in managing cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
4. Strategic Communication:
o Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to C-level executives, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.
o Strong collaboration skills to align data architecture initiatives with organizational goals and strategies.
5. Innovation and Optimization:
o Expertise in adopting and implementing emerging data technologies and tools to drive innovation.
o Experience in monitoring, optimizing, and scaling large-scale data systems for performance and cost efficiency.

1. Architecting Scalable Solutions by leading the design and execution of enterprise-level data architecture strategies that ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
2. Oversee the integration of complex data systems, including on-premises and cloud-based environments, to support advanced analytics and decision-making.
3. Define and enforce enterprise data standards, covering data modeling, governance, security, and compliance policies.
4. Partner with C-level executives, business leaders, and IT teams to align data architecture efforts with the organization’s strategic objectives.
5. Act as thought leader on large-scale data migration and modernization projects, including transitioning from legacy systems to modern, cloud-based platforms.
6. Drive the adoption of cutting-edge data platforms and technologies, positioning the organization as an industry leader.
7. Monitor and optimize data storage, retrieval, and lifecycle management to ensure efficient performance and cost management.
8. Act as the organization’s go-to expert on data architecture, providing strategic guidance and technical recommendations to stakeholders.
