Infrastructure Architect

Primary Role

The Infrastructure Architect will play a pivotal role in supporting a federal client by leveraging a deep understanding of complex IT ecosystems to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions. This role demands expertise in enterprise architecture, the ability to address high-impact challenges, and autonomy in developing methodologies and presenting problem-solving strategies.

Requirements

· U.S. Citizenship
This is different than being eligible to work in the United States. U.S. Citizenship is non-negotiable.

· Upon position being accepted, candidate must be able to come into office to complete paperwork, verify identification and pick up laptop. Candidates outside of the Rockville, MD area are responsible for any and all travel expenses to the IvoryCloud offices. After a 90 day probation period, employee will be reimbursed.

· Bachelor’s degree in technology, business, or related field

Experience

· A minimum of 5 years of IT experience with demonstrated progression in infrastructure and systems roles.

· 2 years of experience in enterprise architecture, including designing scalable and resilient systems.

· 2-3 years of hands-on experience in direct enterprise architecture (EA) engagements, with a focus on aligning IT initiatives to business goals.

· Proficiency in networking concepts (e.g., VPCs, virtual machines, target groups, NACLs/ACLs, inbound/outbound rules).

· Practical experience with cloud infrastructure platforms and tools, including containerization, DNS, TLS, Ingenix Proxy, and DevSecOps methodologies.

Skills and Competencies

· Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceptualize and develop comprehensive reference models and IT application rationalization processes.

· Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of modern infrastructure frameworks, including networking, virtualization, and cloud-native technologies.

· Collaboration: Proven ability to serve as a trusted liaison between business units, functional areas, and technology teams.

· Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical solutions into actionable business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.

· Governance and Metrics: Experience developing value-driven metrics to measure IT performance and adherence to architecture governance processes.

· Agile and Secure Architecture: Ability to design architectures that enable agile software delivery while ensuring security, high availability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic IT Planning:

o Develop and maintain reference models and IT rationalization processes to optimize organizational technology investments.

o Establish metrics to measure and communicate IT performance and alignment with strategic goals.

2. Architecture Design:

o Create scalable and secure architectures to support agile application delivery with a focus on DevSecOps, containerization, and cloud technologies.

o Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems, aligning them with business and operational priorities.

3. Governance and Alignment:

o Implement architecture governance processes that align IT solutions with the client’s strategic vision.

o Ensure compliance with industry best practices and federal security standards.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

o Act as a bridge between business functions and technology teams to clarify IT requirements and influence prioritization.

o Facilitate workshops and discussions to gather technical and operational needs from stakeholders.
