Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Middle School English Teacher to design & implement engaging curricula that promote literacy, critical thinking, & a deep appreciation for literature. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading & writing, fostering creativity & academic excellence in all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with state standards and Ivy Academy’s curriculum.
- Teach a range of topics, including reading comprehension, grammar, writing, vocabulary development, and literary analysis.
- Incorporate a variety of texts, including classic and contemporary literature, to promote diverse perspectives.
- Foster critical thinking through classroom discussions, debates, and written assignments.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and risk-taking.
- Use technology and multimedia tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Assess and track student progress through assignments, projects, and assessments, providing timely feedback.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in English education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English Education/Education for Secondary ELA.
- Valid teaching certification in English (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Prior teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
