Therapeutic Riding Instructor for Inclusive Summer Camp

Hours: 8:45 AM – 12:00 PM on the following dates:

• June 23–27
• July 7–11
• July 21–25
• August 4–8
• August 18–22

Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Riding Instructor for our inclusive summer camp, dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching horseback riding and a passion for working with individuals of all abilities. As an instructor, you will teach beginner-level riding lessons, grooming, and tacking skills while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of each participant.

Responsibilities:

• Teach beginner-level riding lessons to a group of up to 7 riders (each with a volunteer assisting).
• Instruct campers in basic grooming and tacking skills, ensuring safety and proper technique.
• Adapt lessons to the individual needs and abilities of each rider, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
• Maintain clear communication with volunteers and camp staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including proper riding equipment and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience teaching horseback riding lessons, especially to beginners.
• Ability to work with individuals with special needs, demonstrating patience and flexibility.
• Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent safety awareness and a proactive approach to risk management.
