Position Summary:
The Outpatient Hand Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions for patients with upper extremity and hand injuries, surgeries, or congenital conditions. The therapist will work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, physical therapists, and nurses, to ensure optimal patient recovery and functional improvement. The role requires expertise in hand therapy techniques, including splinting, therapeutic exercises, and manual therapy, as well as a strong focus on patient education and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with hand and upper extremity injuries, assessing physical limitations, pain levels, range of motion, strength, and functional abilities.
- Treatment Planning & Implementation: Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient’s condition, needs, and goals. Implement interventions such as therapeutic exercises, modalities, splinting, and manual therapy to promote healing and improve function.
- Education: Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, exercises, adaptive techniques, and home programs to support continued recovery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with orthopedic surgeons, hand specialists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and track progress.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, progress, and outcomes in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Follow-up & Reassessment: Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Provide follow-up care to ensure recovery goals are met.
- Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date with current research, techniques, and best practices in hand therapy and occupational therapy.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
- Current or pending state licensure as an Occupational Therapist in NC.
- CHT highly preferred but not required.
- Upper extremity and hand treating experience required.
- A passion for delivering exceptional patient care and achieving outstanding outcomes.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
