Job Description:
The Director of Orthopedic Residency Program is a dual role that oversees administrative and educational activities of the Ivy Rehab HSS Orthopedic Residency (ORP) while working as a treating Physical Therapist at an Ivy Rehab clinic.
The role will report to the Clinic Director with a dotted line to the Director of Residency Programs and is an integral member of their clinic and the Clinical Excellence Team. This is a hybrid position where the clinician will be based in the clinic for all clinical responsibilities, with the flexibility to work remotely for Residency-related duties. Residency duties may involve 5-10% travel for mentoring, mentor site visits, and course instruction.
Hours Breakdown:
24 hours/week dedicated to Clinical responsibilities, providing hands-on patient care as a Staff Physical Therapist in the clinic.
16 hours/week dedicated to Residency responsibilities, focusing on overseeing residency advocacy for participation, selection, instruction, mentorship, supervision, evaluation, and advancement of residents, mentors and staff orthopedic physical therapists.
Your Residency responsibilities will include:
Create an inclusive and progressive learning environment adhering to ABPTRFE accreditation standards.
Organize and implement a 12-month ORP curriculum in collaboration with Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).
Lead the admissions process for resident application, interviews, and cohort selection.
Select and appoint mentors, ensuring adequate supervision and mentorship for ORP residents.
Manage ORP curriculum and reporting through the learning management system.
Maintain financial tracking and assist with the ORP budget.
Participate in resident education, including teaching lectures, seminars, and courses.
Serve as a mentor for up to one resident per year.
Guide residents for case report submission and OCS examination preparation.
Your Clinical responsibilities will include:
Provide individualized outpatient orthopedic care to patients of varying ages and diagnoses.
Develop patient-centered treatment plans and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Foster a collaborative work environment while maintaining clinical autonomy and growth.
Participate in ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time clinical Orthopedic Physical Therapy experience.
Current Physical Therapist license in the state of residence.
Advanced certification as an OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist)
Active member of APTA and AOPT.
Experience as a residency graduate, residency mentor, or residency director/coordinator
Mentor experience as a clinical instructor, new grad mentor, or residency mentor
Experience with clinical or academic research, post-professional teaching, or higher education teaching preferred
Organized, proficient in technology including Microsoft 365
Strong communication, mentoring, and leadership skills
Experience preparing and delivering clear, engaging presentations using appropriate tools (e.g. Power Point, data visualization, pdfs)
A relationship builder with a collaborative working style
A true team player, willing to roll up sleeves and help wherever needed

Compensation ranges from $93,600.00 to $99,840.00 ($45.00-48.00/hour breakdown) based on experience.
