Customer Service & Team Leadership
- Customer Advocacy: Cultivate a strong culture of customer service, focusing on student and faculty needs. Demonstrate approachability, adaptability, problem-solving, and proactive engagement.
- Inclusive Environment: Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all individuals, ensuring everyone is valued.
- Problem Solving: Go beyond surface-level solutions to identify root causes and resolve facility-related issues efficiently.
- Team Development: Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities to the Maintenance & Custodial teams.
Facilities Maintenance Operations
- Resource Management: Monitor and manage team performance, ensuring effective utilization of manpower and resources. Identify needs for additional personnel or adjustments.
- Repairs & Upgrades: Proactively identify short-term and long-term maintenance and upgrade needs for the campus facilities.
- Systems Monitoring: Ensure all support systems (HVAC, Generators, etc.) are functioning properly, monitoring their effectiveness and recommending improvements.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance activities to minimize disruptions caused by equipment or facility failures.
- Project Oversight: Collaborate with contractors, oversee the bidding process, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Administrative & Budget Management
- Budget Development & Oversight: Assist the Executive Director of Facilities with budget and project development, ensuring financial responsibility in all operations.
- Staff Supervision & Evaluation: Supervise, evaluate, and guide staff development, ensuring performance standards are met.
- Hiring & Personnel Decisions: Approve hiring decisions and ensure the team is well-equipped to meet the college’s facility needs.
Leadership Support:
- Serve as a backup for the Executive Director when needed and contribute to broader department goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree or certification in a related field with 4-5 years of related work experience.
- Supervisory Experience: At least 3 years of supervisory experience managing teams in a maintenance or custodial environment.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, multitasking, and excellent communication skills.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills, capable of making quick, sound decisions under pressure.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, with minimal supervision.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license and eligibility for college insurance coverage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of related experience in facilities maintenance or custodial operations.
