What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Assistant - Automotive Technology position at Ivy Tech Community College?
This is a part-time, temporary position filled each semester on an as-needed basis.
Assist Program Chair, Adjunct Faculty, and students in automotive labs by ensuring smooth operations. Provide support in scheduling and coordinating customer repairs. Prepare materials for class work, labs, and vehicle-related tasks. Maintain the parts/tool room, ensuring organization and inventory control. Oversee overall shop cleanliness and organization to create an efficient and safe environment. Assist instructors with access to necessary tools, equipment, and vehicles for lab activities. Contribute to the preparation and setup of labs and vehicle related activities. Demonstrate respect by conducting all activities with an appreciation for different people, styles and views.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Certificate and two years on-the-job training in automotive field preferred.
Other Requirements
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome. The incoming employee must hold a valid Indiana driver's license and complete the Driver Approval Form to obtain authorization from the Systems Office for operating any College-owned, leased, or rented vehicles as part of their job responsibilities.
